Fenwick Girls Earn 6th Victory, Topple Chicago Central 8–3
After falling behind 2–1 in the first period, the Fenwick Girls Hockey Team stormed back to claim an impressive 8–3 win over Chicago Central on Sunday night.
Junior Kate Mulvihill opened the scoring for the Friars in the first period, capitalizing on a setup from junior Greta Lyle.
The Friars found their rhythm in the second period with goals from freshman Libby Boveri, junior Zoe Rose, and sophomore Lyric Bessey. Lyle recorded her second assist of the night, while Rose, Boveri, junior Molly Wunderlich, and freshman Gabby Nitti each added helpers.
Fenwick continued its offensive surge in the third period, scoring four more times. Mulvihill and Boveri each notched their second goals of the game, while Nitti and sophomore Reese Mangano tallied their first. Assists went to Boveri, Bessey (2), Rose, Mulvihill, Wunderlich, freshman Clarie Chalberg, and freshman Klara Novak.
Sophomore goaltender Mikey Romero turned away nine shots in the win.
After a slow start, the Friars regrouped, played a strong team game, and improved their record to 6–1–1.
Up next, Fenwick faces Barrington on Sunday, November 23, at 7:30 p.m. at their home rink, Franklin Park Ice Arena.
