Fenwick Girls Beat York to End Regular Season; Third Place Finish Earns a Spot in the Metro League Playoffs

The Fenwick girls hockey beat York High School Sunday night in commanding fashion, earning the number three seed and a spot in the Metro League Playoffs. The Friars beat the Dukes 7-0!

During the game goals were scored by In the first matchup, the Friars took on Lake Forest High School and scored early and often, cruising to an 8–1 win over the Scouts. Fenwick tallied three goals in both the first and second periods before adding two more in the third.

Senior Madison Strockis led the offensive charge with a hat trick, while juniors Zoe Rose and Kate Mulvihill each added two goals. Junior Molly Wunderlich rounded out the scoring for the Friars.

Sophomore Reese Mangano recorded two assists in the win, with additional assists credited to Rose, Strockis, Wunderlich, freshman Libby Boveri, and sophomore Stella Neumayer. Freshman Luciana Pilati earned the victory in net.

The Friars’ second game of the week was a much tighter contest against the Burlington Central Grizzlies. After a scoreless first period, Fenwick broke through midway through the second when Wunderlich found the net on a pass from sophomore Lyric Bessey. The Friars extended their lead in the third period as freshman Claire Chalberg scored off assists from freshman Gabbi Nitti and Bessey.

Fenwick outshot the Grizzlies 43–12 and came away with a 2–1 victory. Sophomore Mikey Romero was sharp in goal, stopping all 12 shots she faced. The evening also celebrated three seniors: Strockis, Eleanor Schultz and Natalie Pasdo.

Fenwick returns to action on Sunday, February 8, when the Friars take on York at 7:10 p.m. at Addison Ice Arena.
