I can’t believe the four years of representing the Shield is finally over. I always knew it was going to come to an end but I never thought it was going to be over this fast. Playing for the Shield for the past four years was the best thing that I have ever been apart of. Even though we didn’t accomplish our final goal in the end, I would still take this team and coaching staff any day. We overcame obstacles that seemed nearly impossible but we did it. Coach Laps, thanks for making me-and everyone on this team-not only a better hockey player but also a better person in general. Thank you for turning me into the man I am today. Even though some of your practices made me want to scream and probably hate you for that practice, I still have the utmost respect for you. Coach Roons, you didn’t say much, but when you did it was always motivating and something that kept this team together. Thank you for everything you did for me this year and last year. You were like another of the guys and will always be thankful for what you did for us. Fr. Winkels, I first wanna say sorry for everything you have ever heard me say. Hahaha. Thank you for being there for me and the team through everything. You really were an inspiration to me because you have been around this program for awhile and you have seen it at your highest point so I always wanted to make sure I tried to play to my best. Now Coach Tony. Coach, I first want to thank you for teaching me how to skate. You have been my coach for pretty much my whole hockey career. We have won championships, we have gone through tough losses. Me and you have been through it all and there isn’t any other coach I would want leading me. Thank you for always having my back and being that guy I could count on for anything. And finally a big thank you to Tony McCormick for everything you have done for me and this team. All the bumps, concussions, and broken bones you had to deal with. Thank you. To my parents and the parents sitting here today, thank you for everything you guys have sacrificed for us to play this game. I don’t think I will ever be able to repay you guys for everything you have sacrificed. Hockey has shaped me into the person I am today and--No, Casey--not shaped as in the back brace--haha. I will forever be happy to call myself a Fenwick Hockey Player. Thank you.
